Physical Addressing

Did you know?

Your physical address is the most important piece of information that you can provide to a 9-1-1 dispatcher in an emergency. In an emergency, your physical address is the primary identifier that 9-1-1 services uses to locate your home.Due to the need for an E9-1-1 system based on physical addressing, the entire Community was physically addressed in 2007. GIS at LUPZ assigns and maintains the physical addressing for the Community. Every building on the Community has a physical address; unfortunately, very few Community members have requested or know their correct physical address. Help spread the word! Ask your neighbor, family member, or church member if they know their physical address. If they do not, please refer them to the Department of Land Use Planning and Zoning and ask to speak to a GIS representative.

REMEMBER: A physical address identifies the specific location of your home. Knowing and having your physical address within reach enables emergency services to find your home in an emergency.

The evolution of physical addressing

The use of physical addresses in the Gila River Indian Community has come a long way.  From having no system in place, through the use of different, limited systems over the years to the efficient process used today.  See how the use of physical addressing has evolved greatly over the years.
