Project Description

On September 15, 2021, the Gila River Indian Community Council (“Community Council”) passed Resolution GR-114-21 establishing the District #4 Public Safety Facility Construction Owner’s Team (“PSFCOT”) and authorizing the PSFCOT to oversee the planning, financing and construction of a new District #4 Public Safety Facility and related facilities. On October 4, 2021 the District #4 Community met and approved the establishment of the new District #4 Public Safety Facility on a twenty (20) acre parcel of Community Trust Land on West of Stotonic Road The Community Council on November 15, 2023, passed Resolution GR-228-23, which identified and authorized this parcel twenty (20) acre parcel of Community Trust Land to be used for the development of the new District #4 Public Safety Facility.

The new District #4 Public Safety Facility (“Project”) will be designed as a state-of-the-art 43,250 sq. ft. facility housing personnel from the GRIC Fire Department, including its administrative headquarters, the Gila River Indian Community Emergency Medical Services Department, including its administrative headquarters, and a substation for the Gila River Police Department housing the traffic division, rangers, and K-9 units. The Project will have a large Community Room, dormitories for Fire and EMS personnel, the administrative headquarters for Fire and EMS, day rooms and kitchens for Fire and EMS, conference rooms, fitness room, and a high bay for Fire Engines, Brush Trucks, Ambulances and Command vehicles and trailers. In addition, the Project will have solar covered parking and will be a LEED certified facility. The Project will serve as first responders for the District #4 Community and the new Santan Mountain Development Area.

The current project schedule calls for site work to begin on the new Project in December 2023 and to be completed by March of 2025.

In summary, the new District #4 Public Safety Facility will constitute another piece of the Community’s overall initiative to improve public safety and first responder services and resources for all Community members across our Community.
